The Larimar Museum
The museum of the Larimar is the second educational
unit of
AMABAR NACIONAL
(AMBASA S.A.) of Santo Domingo, an association presided by Mr. Jorge Caridad and his wife Mrs. Arelis de Caridad,
which plans to become the major organized net of educational museums of
the public domain in the Dominican Republic. It was founded on September 5, 1996.
In the Larimar Museum, we show the known facts and scientific explanations on the blue pectolite
or Larimar, and of the worldwide only bed of its kind is in the Dominican Republic.

To deepen the vistor's knowledge, we make use of technical aids and instruments in order
to offer a visual and tactual experience whichs permits a better explanation of the structure of this beautiful,
scarce and spectacular mineral jewel.

The museum is located in the colonial zone of Sto. Domingo, in a magnificently remodelled antique house,
which kept the lines and the architectonic spirit of the 17th century.
On the first level of the building you will find a very elegant museum store with an ample offer of jewels
in Larimar and amber, created manually by our experienced goldsmithes.

A beautiful stairway crafted from centennial mahogany wood and with original Larimar handrails leads you
to the second level with its fascinating Larimar exposition.
